What made you realise you had a love for music/singing?
I grew up in a very musical household, my dad loved his motown and jazz, and mum loved her UK soulsters like simply red, george Michael and the like! I taught myself to sing in my bedroom listening to the greats and studying their breathing and styles!
What album(s) inspired you when you were young?
I was huge fan of 80’s & 90’s artists so band like go west, level 42, usher Stevie, Marvin and the like inspired me in a big way! Usher- My Way, BoyZ II Men Coolyhighharmony and Maxwell Urban Hang Sweet definitely played a part!!
If you could duet with any artist who would you choose and why?
Am a huge P!Nk fan, I love her sassy attitude and that voice is ???????? on the home turf, Adele I’ve known for years so who knows! Someone like Raphael Saadiq would be incredible to work with too!
What songs do you sing in the shower?
At the moment I’m singing Kraak & Smaak feat Cleopold – Alone With You! Also a big SG Lewis fan ESP Meant To Be! I play them both in my DJ Sets
If you were headlining a festival, what bands/artists would you like as your support acts?
I run an amazing live music night called sessions58 at the looking glass cocktail club in Shoreditch! We have created such an awesome family of musicians and artists, I have Gareth Esson supporting me at the o2 academy Islington in February and am also a fan of Louise Golbey and Ciara Vizzard who are all from Sessions 58! They are incredible and would be amazing special guests
Has music bought you closer to others?
It’s proven that music is one of the few things that stimulates the entire brain, and seeing people react to songs I have written because they are touched by them is the best feeling! It’s also the language of love, not that I have ever serenaded someone lol ????
