So let’s get to it shall we? Here’s our favourite musical highlights of the year…
Soundtracks take centre stage…
It’s been a huge year for music in movies. You will probably be one of many that loved The Greatest Showman, adored A Star is Born, and enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody with Rami Malek’s amazing performance as Freddy Mercury.
It’s no surprise then that these films also had amazing music, which saw the Star is Born soundtrack go straight to number one, as well as The Greatest Showman and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again also making the top spot.

Beyonce steals the show at Coachella…

Joined by fellow Destiny’s Child band members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, the pop legend transformed the event when people saw the trio together for the first time since The Stellar Gospel Music Awards in 2015.

Three Lions roar to top of the charts (again!)…
The emotional rollercoaster that was World Cup 2018 was accompanied by an old friend. Three Lions (or its other title ‘Football’s Coming Home’), reached number one in July as England fans found their voice once again.
Music has the ability to evoke feelings of nostalgia and better times, and the famous football anthem was the perfect match for a resurgent young England team making their way to a semi-final of a World Cup for the first time since 1990.

A new album from a Beatle…
Another blast from the past as ex-Beatle Paul McCartney released another album called Egypt Station in 2018. The most successful albums act the UK has ever seen, Egypt Station was the Liverpool-born legend’s first solo LP in five years.
Inspired by one of Paul McCartney’s own paintings, Egypt Station is based on the idea of travelling from station to station on a musical journey. The singer and songwriter is also supporting the new album through his new “Freshen Up Tour”.

The Spice Girls are back…
After what seemed like an eternity of speculation the Spice Girls have officially announced their new tour. The last time all five performed together was at the London Olympics back in 2012, but this time Vitoria Beckham (aka Posh Spice) will not be there.
The girls initially made plans for only six dates around the UK, but the landslide of demand from one of the biggest fan bases in the world has meant a further five shows have needed to be added. Jess Glynn fans will also be pleased to see the star supporting the Spice Girls throughout the tour.
KitSound Fact: Many fans were left disappointed after the ticket website crashed within just a few minutes of going live. Some Tweeters even suggested Posh was behind it!
